What
Are Some Promising Alternative Fuels?
by SolveYourProblem.com
Gas
and diesel are the basic forms of fuel at present.
If you are like anyone else in the world,
you realize that the cost of fuel is rising, and it's getting
more expensive every day to drive to work, take a vacation
and for those who are farmers, run equipment.
Alternative forms of fuel must be found to reduce
costs so that you can continue on with your
life without spending a fortune. Gas and diesel are not
the only
forms of fuel that need to be addressed by everyone
around the world. You must look at the fuels used for heating
a home. Home heating costs are rising
just as
fast as the cost to run your car, truck or tractor.
Just check your monthly bill.
Various
countries, including the US, are looking to develop and test
other forms of fuel, which are known as alternative fuels. The
use of biodiesel, electricity, ethanol, hydrogen, natural
gas and propane are just some of the
forms of alternative fuels, but there are many more out there.
While sitting
here thinking about alternative fuels, you need to think about
your car, your home, the manufacturer down the street, and
how all this is going to link into a better & cleaner future
- one that
will leave everyone less dependent on oil and oil products.
Biodiesel is
one form of alternative fuel, and is considered by the EPA
as one of the best because it is not a straight
gas or a diesel. It contains a mixture that uses much
less oil. If you are running
a fleet of cars or trucks, or even tractors,
you know just how high the price of fuel can eat away at
your profit margin. When you hear someone on the news talking
about biodiesel, take notice. Biodiesel is a mixture of
blends that consists of
using twenty percent or more of another product along with
diesel to make it run cleaner, longer and conserve
the overall amount of diesel is being consumed.
Alternative
fuels also include the use of methanol, ethanol and
other types of alcohol for use in machinery and
in vehicles.
When
learning more about alternative fuels, it's interesting how
methanol, ethanol and other alcohols are added to gasoline
as we know it. Companies are now adding up to
85% of the overall liquid to create new blends that
work well in many types of machinery and in cars alike.
To make the situation even more appealing, farmers are finding
many of the crops they already produce can give them
a great
by-product
- the alcohol needed to run vehicles and machinery enabling
them
to save money.
Alternative
fuels are being found not only in alcohol but in gasses,
liquefied petroleum gasses, coal derived forms,
hydrogen, electricity, and by the use of wind. Wind
power is going to become one of the biggest alternative
fuel sources because
you just have to harness the wind to make electricity
- which in turn can be used to heat homes, run cars and
so much more!
